The diagnosis of a dependent personality disorder might not have signs and symptoms. Therefore, a patient has to be referred to a licensed psychiatrist or psychologist. He or she will conduct interviews as tools for accurate assessments or psychological recommendations. Normally, the processes of evaluation take its course when the disorder becomes overwhelming. Generally, individuals who are suffering from this maladjustment do not seek any medical help because their sickness is still manageable. The treatment modality for dependent personality disorder is widely known as psychotherapy. Its primary objective is to allow a patient to become independent in due time and develop a healthy interpersonal relationship with other people. Accordingly, shorter therapy sessions are more favorable in order to avoid transference. It is defined as a phenomenon in psychotherapy wherein an unconscious redirection of feelings occurs from a patient to a psychotherapist. Somehow, this is a fruitful endeavour for a psychiatrist because people with psychological problems are miraculously turned into a biological time machine. Remarkably, an emotional time wrap transpires which amazingly transfers their emotional pasts to the present. Afterwards, feelings of comfort are being elicited by these patients who has DPD.
